Dear families,
I hope you had a lovely weekend. Last week we finished our unit on 2- and 3-D shapes and the children brought their folders home. We did a 3-D Shape Hunt, measured different items with cube-a-links, and practiced our poem called "Shapes" (the children have a copy). We also started our (last!) unit on Canadian Coins and their characteristics and values. The SKs will remember this unit from last year, so for them it is review. The children started a Money Book, and played in several centres: pizza store, store, money sorting and counting, money stamps, and coin-rub. We are also learning The Money Song and are learning about special Canadian coins (commemorating historical events or people). The children are loving this unit and our stores are popular centres! Please help your children learn about money by allowing them to help you count coins at the store and at home. It's great for numeracy skills! This week we will continue our unit on money and will start rehearsals for the SK Graduation Ceremony.
Our Parent Volunteers for this week were: Mystery Reader: Lauren's sister Ava, and Victoria's mom; White bags were done by Sophie's mom and Quentin's mom. Many thanks!!!
Our Volunteer Tea is June 24 at 8:10 a.m. Please join us in the Library and celebrate the many hours you have given and the dedication you have shown our classroom this year. Whether you have helped out a little or a lot, your support is very much appreciated and makes LKS the success that it is! All are welcome.
I hope you have a terrific week.
