Dear Parents

This week we continued with our Phonics work and we have finished/reviewed the sounds S,A,T,I,P, and N. The program we use is entitled Jolly Phonics.

The children attended the Remembrance Day Ceremony and I was very impressed with their respectful, attentive behaviour during this important assembly. Thank you especially to William Abernethy for placing our poppy on the school's wreath. We also practiced our song "Little Poppy".

Report Cards (SK students this term) will be going home on Monday. In today's white TDSB bag you received a pink letter with your interview date and time on it. I look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child's progress. Your children are more than welcome to attend the meeting.

Snuggle books were not included in today's white TDSB bags -- I will send them home on Monday, for return by Friday.

A note from Mrs. McGee, our School Librarian: parent helpers are no longer necessary in the K classes. Thank you very much for your help during first term!

Computer Helpers are also no longer needed as per Mrs. McGee and Mrs. Bradshaw. Thank you as well to the parents who have volunteered during first term.

Our Holiday Concert will take place on December 13 at 6 p.m. (gym) and should last no more than 30-40 minutes for all Kindergarten classes. Both Morning and Afternoon classes will sing together. Please join us for this special evening.

We are working on Patterning (early math comprehension) with bingo dabbers and other items. Please encourage your children to wear patterned clothing to school so we can discuss their patterns. You can also point out patterns we see around us. We have discussed the following types of patterns:

ABABABABABAB
ABBABBABBABB
AABAABAABAAB
ABCABCABCABC
ABCDABCDABCD
ABBCDABBCDABBCD
ABBCDABBCDABBCD etc

Thank you very much to our volunteer parents this week: Matthew's dad (Mystery Reader and Library), Siri's mom (Book Bags), David's mom (Library), William A's grandmother (Mystery Reader), Griffin's mom (Reading Club and Book Bags).

Have a wonderful weekend!

Mrs. Tyndall
