Week of February 20-24

Dear families,

I hope you are having a lovely weekend! Last week was like an early Spring and we're supposed to get flurries today so layers of clothing are best for the little ones at school!

The Pirate Unit went home in Friday's mail bag, along with some Family Day work. Your kids will love sharing what they did in this fun unit! Psssst - top secret - we're starting a BIG science and nature inquiry on the Ocean on Monday as a follow up to the Pirates! Please send in an adult-size SHOE BOX for your child -- we will be making a ocean diorama during this inquiry. If you have more than one, please send those in too!!

Congratulations to Catherine, Michai and Hudson for receiving awards at this week's Sharing Assembly. The children recited a poem called "I Have a Cold." We also learned about how cold germs spread from a video on the Smart Board. We also watched how to make an ice rink since the children were wondering about that.

Thank you so much to William's mom who was our Mystery Reader this week. Thank you as well to the moms of Kate, Ruby and Ethan for helping out with Pizza Lunch!

In the Computer Lab, the children are working on the excellent website called Starfall. www.starfall.com

On Friday the children started their "This is me in February" writing and their calendars.

A note about our upcoming field trip on March 1st: it is this Wednesday, so if you have ordered a hot lunch you might wish to cancel that since we are leaving at 12:00 p.m.

That's the news for this week - see you tomorrow!
