Dear families,
I hope you are having a lovely Victoria Day weekend and are enjoying this lovely spring weather.
This Friday the children brought home their pigeon folders home which they were very excited about. We finished our "Don't let the pigeon drive the..." and our pigeon character maps. We also mapped our favourite hot dog condiment words ("Pigeon Found a Hot Dog!") and the SKs wrote about their favourite Pigeon book. The homework for the SKs is to complete the Pigeon Wants a Cookie math booklet (which we pre-did together on the SmartBoard) and the JKs are to read their Friends booklet. The children can also read their Pigeon Popcorn words booklet.
This week will work on our Popcorn Word folders and will play in various Popcorn Word Centres. The little sight word booklets they make can go in their bedtime book boxes!
Thank you so much to Matthew G.'s mom and Kate's dad who were our Mystery Readers. Thank you to Lauren's mom who did the morning white bags and snuggle books.
This summer Bubbles the Beta Fish will need a home! If you would like to take care of him for the summer please let me know. He comes with food and water cleaner.
Our Sharing Assembly poem is called Open a Book:
It's show time! Pick up a book and read!
Open a book
And turn a page.
A world opens up
Just like a stage.
The words are performers.
Their show's just for you.
You'll laugh, cry,
Learn something new.
You have a front row seat.
So go on, turn a page!
A world opens up
Just like a stage.
The Book Fair is this week. If you would like your child to be able to purchase books please send him/her with money in a plastic bag with his/her named on it.
The last Scholastic book order is due on May 31st.
I hope you have a terrific week!
