Reminders and Craft Idea

Hello everyone

Today's Olympic Presentation was a great success! Thank you again to Jackson's dad for taking the time to present this very special event.

A reminder that Tuesday, February 8 is Skating Day (9:15-10:15 a.m.). All children and volunteers on the ice must be wearing CSA approved hockey helmets.

Thursday, February 11 is our 100th Day Celebration and we will be doing lots of fun crafts and activities to celebrate this. Friday, February 12 is our Valentine's Party (10:30-11:45) and the children have been busy making crafts for that event as well.

Yesterday our JKs and SKs met their Reading Buddies from Mrs. Shklar's Grade 3 class. Her students will be reading to their Reading Buddies once a week (Day 2).

I would like to have the children replicate a craft that Alexandra made (on her own!) and brought in for Show and Tell: it is a "ship in a bottle" made of rice, plasticine, paper, and shells. The children loved it and I thought we could all make one before we say "bon voyage" for March Break. Please bring in a washed speghetti sauce-style jar with the lid. It should be about 400-500 ml in size.

We are still working on our booklets and have finished letters G and O in the phonics program. When your child has completed his/her small yellow phonics book at home, I will glue in the next set of phonics we have done. The children also have phonics books they work on in class.

Best regards,

Beverley
