Hello everyone
Thank you Mrs. Giancos (Alexandra's mom) and Mr. Solby (Jackson's dad) very much for helping out with our firefighter/fire truck visit. The kids had a wonderful time and learned a lot about fire safety.
May 4 is our Artist in the Classroom visit. Please dress your children in casual clothes for this special day.
The Volunteer Tea is Thursday, May 20 after school. Invitations were sent out to thank all parents who have so kindly volunteered in the classroom this year.
Thank you for bringing in Tombola and Seeds of Hope monies.
The Kindergarten classes are going to be purchasing T-shirts through "schooltee.com" for our Seniors going on to Grade One. Please kindly submit $15.00 for your SK child's shirt before May 15 so that the shirts will be ready for our SK Graduation Party June 29. Thank you.
You will notice more booklets coming home since the children are completing their "numbers", "patterns" "cutting and pasting" and "alphabet" booklets. Please review them with your child - they've worked very hard on them!
Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!

Update
Spring is finally here and we are busy in the classroom working on Spring-related themes: Spring vocabulary, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, and changing seasons. After March Break we will be starting a little classroom garden; the children will plant seeds and take care of their growing plants. We will also be starting a highly recommended new writing program called "Handwriting Without Tears" that the LKS Kindergarten teachers have purchased as a team, as part of our overall literacy and writing program. www.hwtears.com
The children will also be starting daily journals to encourage their writing skills and fine motor skills through printing and drawing pictures.
I have returned all the yellow homework phonics booklets that were handed in. Please encourage your child to complete the booklet so that they can be updated with our new Jolly Phonics letter-sounds.
I wish everyone a wonderful and safe March Break!

Update
Hello everyone
The 100th day party was fun today and the kids did a lot of crafts and fun activities. Thank you for sending 100 items with your children to show their friends.
The snuggle books didn’t go home today; Josie’s baby Ruth was sick with a fever. I hope little Ruth feels better soon. We’ll start a new series of snuggle books next week. Thank you so much Josie for all your help in spite of how busy you are – it is really appreciated.
Tomorrow is our Valentine’s Day Party and we will be doing several fun activities as well. Thank you to our parent volunteers for your help tomorrow.
Thank you as well to everyone who helped out with the skating event on Tuesday. The kids had fun!
Please remember to bring in a jar and matching lid for next week.
Warm regards,
Beverley
