Hello everyone,
Thank you to all the parents who volunteered for Mystery Reader, Book Bags/Snuggle Books, Library, Computer, and Reading Club.
thank you also for attending our first Sharing Assembly! The children presented a "Safety Song" about stop lights, and the "Brush Your Teeth" song.
A reminder that the white TDSB bags go home each Friday and include some of your child's classwork (much of it is filed in your child's file folder to track progress and will be sent home at report card time), artwork, letters from the office, etc. Please be sure to return the bags by Monday. Thank you.
The children received new Green Library Bags with their name and an individual Bar Code on it. Please be sure to return this bag along with your child's library book on or before library day. They will need their green bag in order to take a new book out.
This week we learned and wrote in our journals about Autumn, Terry Fox, and school words. We also worked on our Numbers Booklets and upper and lower case letter writing practice. The Afternoon Class is learning "Oh Canada" as well (the Morning Class sings it each morning with the rest of the school).
The work that went home in today's white TDSB bags was done entirely by your children and they received no assistance cutting or pasting their letters and shapes. Good for them! Their small motor skills are really coming along and I was happy to see all the children able to manage scissors so well. I am also happy to see that many of the JKs can write their name and that they are learning correct pencil grip as well. Keep up the good work!
Next week we will finish out number booklets and work on some Thanksgiving crafts. The JKs will start the phonic sound "S" and the SKs will learn/review reading and writing of high frequency words (such as AND, THE, AT, I, etc.).
Next week Friday your child will also receive his/her first Snuggle Book. This is a book in a series of books that your child will receive each Friday and will read to you or read with you at home. Please return the book by the following Friday in the designated bin at the classroom entrance. Thank you!
I am also arranging with Mrs. Zappi's class and Mrs. Shklar's class to do weekly Reading Buddies again this year. I will update you once we have our Reading Buddies list.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

We are learning a poem and a song for the Sharing Assembly (Sept. 29) and are learning/reviewing the phonic sound "S", words that have "s" in them and school words. The JKs and SKs have started journal writing as well!

School Forms due by Friday please
Dear Parents,
Please ensure that you have completed and returned all the TDSB forms (medical, safe arrival/media/walking excursion, email address) by this Friday at the latest. You should send them to me in your child's white TDSB bag.
It is also very important that I receive everyone's email address by Friday as well. Even if you have indicated that you do not wish your child's contact information to be on a shared class list, I still require an email address for classroom communication/changes/updates.
Thank you!
