Thursday, December 8, 2011.

Dear families,

A reminder that tomorrow, Friday, is a Professional Activity Day and the school will be closed to students.

The morning class met their Reading Buddies this week from Ms. Sunde's 2/3 class. They had a fun time getting to know one another and reading together. They will meet each week throughout the year. The afternoon class will start Reading Buddies in the new year.

Thank you to Logan's mom who brought in the Snowman foam craft. Thank you as well to this week's Reading Club helpers - Charlie's mom and Kasen's mom. This week's Mystery Readers were Charlie's dad and brother Zach (good job!), and Isobel's mom. The white bags and Snuggle Books were done by Mrs. Tyndall (a.m. class) and Taylor's mom (p.m. class).

The children are doing a great job learning their anchor words. I have sent home another copy of them to practice at home. Great job!

Thank you to all the parents who so kindly contributed to the baskets for the families in the Stonegate Community. Thank you as well to our grade parents who helped organize this. The children have made a nice card for each of the families.

The children did a very nice job writing about their favourite part of the Dr. Seuss play. We also worked on our Phonics Books.

In this week's white bags you will find the snack and mystery bag schedules for January and February. If you make any changes (i.e. switch days with another child) please let me know. You will also find a letter we wrote to Santa. We hope he writes back!

Some children were wondering where to find a Santa hat - they are easily found at any dollar store.

Have a wonderful weekend. We are are looking forward to the Holiday Concert on Tuesday. Please remember that the children should be dressed (white top, black bottom, Santa or Elf hat) and ready to rehearse in the classroom by 5:30 p.m. Thank you.

Mrs. Tyndall
