Thursday, June 16

Dear families,

It's hard to believe that there are only 10 more school days left until the beginning of summer holidays! We have been busy preparing for tomorrow's last Sharing Assembly, at which the children will sing a Father's Day song. They have also made special booklets for their dad's special day on Sunday.

We have also made a little art project called "In the Summer..." which is on display on our bulletin board, along with a booklet we made about the twenty-three summer words we have learned.

The children loved going to their Reading Buddies' classrooms this week to participate in their Pioneer Village displays. The Grade Threes role-played different people in a pioneer community and our JKs and SKs enjoyed seeing them in costume and learning about pioneer days in an Ontario town. We visited the displays in Mrs. Shklar's room, Mr. Ross's room and Ms. Sunde's room. We also had fun playing Pioneer Games in the gym with the Grade Three classes. Well done Grade Threes!

We have a new tent in the Home Centre, thanks to your Scholastic Book orders. It has a design of the Eric Carle book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and the children love playing in it. Thank you!

I have also set up a store with many items that are single coin prices. the children are having fun selling and buying items using Canadian coins.

In the Science Centre I have added some new items for the children to explore as well as some special Canadian coins. I am also going to be adding a "tornado tube vortex" (using two plastic pop bottles).

Many thanks to our parent volunteers over the last week: Mystery Readers were Spencer's mom, Sarah's sister, and Jamie's brother and mom; Reading Club was done by Spencer's mom, Alexandra's mom, Maya's mom, and Griffin's mom. Bags this week were done by Ava's mom and Scarlett's mom. Many thanks.

Please come by the library after school today to have some cake and cookies at our Volunteer Tea.

Have a wonderful Father's Day this Sunday.

Mrs. Tyndall
